A fasting timer, not a diet app
Donut tracks one thing: the clock. Pick a fasting style, start the timer, and go about your day. No meal plans, no calorie counting, no guilt copy. Just a clear, live countdown that follows you from your phone to your wrist to your Home Screen, and a small reward waiting on the other side.
Fasting styles
Any schedule, including the ones without a name
Want to go longer than a day? Extended Fast lets you plan in days instead of hours, with a plain-language note about when it's worth looping in a doctor, never a wall stopping you from starting. Fasting at odd hours, or not every day? Set your own hours, or have Donut remind you on your own cadence.
Always visible, never in the way
Live Activities
Your countdown sits right on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while a fast is running, and gracefully switches color once you've hit your goal and are still going.
Home Screen widgets
A glance at your donut without opening the app, always in sync with what's actually running.
Apple Watch app
Start, check, and end a fast right from your wrist, in sync with your phone the moment either one changes.
Health-aware
It knows more than the clock does
Donut reads from Apple Health, with your permission, to show you what's actually happening while you fast: heart rate, body temperature, sleep, steps, and workouts, plus how each one compares to your own baseline. Log a weigh-in, a temperature reading, or a mood check-in, and it writes straight back to Health too, so everything stays in one place.
Donut Box
Every fast is a donut being made
The flavor is picked the moment you start, and its color is what closes in around the timer while you fast. Cross 12 hours and that donut is yours, name and all, in a collection of 25. Your first fast, a new personal best, and every streak milestone earn a donut of their own on top of it. It's a small, honest "nice work," not a slot machine.
Friends
Fast alongside people you actually know
Add friends by username and see how their fasts are going, no follower counts, no public feed. It's built on the same private, invite-only model as the rest of the app: search a username, send a request, they accept, that's it.
FAQ
How Donut works
Do I need to create an account?
No. Donut has no sign-up or password screen. It uses your device's existing iCloud account to sync your data privately across your iPhone and Apple Watch. Adding friends works the same way, by username, not an email/password account.
What fasting styles are supported?
12:12, 14:10, 16:8, 18:6, 20:4, OMAD, open-ended, custom hourly plans, and multi-day Extended Fasts of 24, 36, 48, or 72 hours. If you fast occasionally rather than daily, Donut can remind you on your own cadence instead of nagging you every day.
Is fasting for multiple days in a row safe?
Donut never blocks you from starting an Extended Fast of any length, that's your call to make, but it does show a plain-language note recommending you loop in a doctor once you're past a few days, especially if it's new to you, you have a health condition, or you take medication. Nothing in Donut is medical advice.
What does Donut use from Apple Health?
With your permission: height, weight, date of birth, biological sex, heart rate, body temperature, sleep, steps, exercise minutes, workouts, and water. Age and sex are used only to estimate your resting calorie burn. When you log a weigh-in, a glass of water, a workout, or a reading by hand, Donut writes that back to Health so it lives in one place. Nothing Donut works out for itself is ever written back, and you can switch writing off entirely in Settings.
What are donut flavors and the Donut Box?
Every fast is a donut being made. Its flavor is decided the moment you start, and its color is what you watch close in around the timer for the whole fast. Finish 12 hours or more and that donut is yours, name and all, in a collection of 25. Milestones, your first fast, a new personal best, a streak, earn a separate donut of their own on top of it.
Is Donut free?
Fasting is free, and stays free: every plan, unlimited fasts, your full history, streaks, the Donut Box, widgets, Live Activities, and the Watch app. donut+ is an optional subscription that adds weight trends and predictions, the deeper "fasting and your body" insights, live heart rate and sleep during a fast, friend fasting alerts, more than three friends, and CSV export. It's monthly or annual, and the annual plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
What else can I log besides fasts?
Water, workouts and exercise minutes, weigh-ins, and a quick mood check-in during or after a fast. Each one shows up on the donut you're building and in that fast's summary afterwards, so you can see what a rough fast and a good one actually looked like.
Does it work on Apple Watch?
Yes. The Watch app can start, check, and end a fast on its own, and stays in sync with your iPhone the moment either one changes.
Can I see my countdown without opening the app?
Yes, through a Home Screen widget and a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Both update live and switch to a distinct color once you've passed your goal and are still fasting.
Is my data private?
Yes. Donut has no ad tracking and no analytics profile tied to you. Your fasting history, health summaries, and Donut Box sync through your own private iCloud account. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
